ββ now let me start off by saying this there is nothing wrong with celebrating Jesus Christ birthday December 25th having said that
We have biblical clues about the time of His birth :
βAnd she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night,β (Jesus born Luke 2:7-8).
The time of Jesusβ birth coincided with shepherds being out in the field. They would not have been out during winter, so this removes the possibility of Christβs birth being at that time.
βNow in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. 2 This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. 4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,β (Luke 2:1-4).
The trip from Galilee to Bethlehem is about 80 miles. During the winter the traveling conditions wouldβve been very bad which wouldβve made travel quite difficult. Since Caesar Augustus wanted a census of the people, it would make more sense for him to require it during a time when people could return to their cities of origin in order to be counted.
Different Dates are proposed for Jesusβ birth
βSince John was born on Passover, the 15th day of Nisan (the 1st Jewish month), Jesus would have been born six months later on the 15th day of Tishri (the 7th Jewish month). The 15th day of the 7th month begins the Feast of Tabernacles (Lev. 23:34-35), also known as Sukkot. Jesus was born on the 1st day of the Feast of Tabernacles! In the year 5 BCE, this fell in the month of September.β (herealittletherealittle.net/index.cfm?page_name=Jesus-Birthday)
βIt is probable, because of the circumstances shown in Luke 1, that Mary conceived during the last two weeks of Elizabethβs sixth month. Thus, John was born in the spring of 4 BC, probably between March 18 and 31. By projecting forward another six months to Jesusβ birth, the most probable time for His birth occurred between September 16 and 29
Some scholars suggest he may have been born in the spring. Fact is we don't know the exact date and it really doesn't matter. What's most important is that we become born again like Jesus Christ said in John 3:3
" Unless a person is born again they cannot inherit the kingdom of God "

Another very informative threadβΌοΈβΌοΈβΌοΈ
THANK YOUβΌοΈβΌοΈβΌοΈ
Itβs a sad fact that many Christians are just like ignorant babies, but not only are they like ignorant babes but they chose ignorant baby preachers to spoon feed them. They habitually disobey God because they refuse to fact check or study the facts of theology for themselvesβΌοΈβΌοΈ

interesting, I often wondered this myself with July and a August being added to the calendar around that time. in other words things could have been off by 2 months.

Yes Jesus was born in the month of Tishri. which is september/october on the Roman gregorian calendar we use today.
We know for certain that John the baptist was born on passover, as the Scriptures tells us when his father Zacharias ministered in the temple in the 8th order of Abijah, and then the angel told him that his wife Elisabeth would conveice after that week of ministration.

I believe it has to do with Sukkot (Feast of tabernacles) which is later this month. Where the Word was made flesh and came to "dwell/tabernacle" with his people.
I would say though, that I don't think a follower of Christ should celebrate worldly holidays/traditions like xmas. Because it has really nothing to do with Christ, as it was not his birthday. Its just a worldly holiday/tradition of men, full of stress, santa, elfs and a huge money machine for the merchants of the earth.
Same goes for easter, halloween, thanksgiving etc. Those are not Biblical set apart days. But of the world. And we are told not to be "friends" with the world (James 4:4), and warned about celebrating traditions of men (Col 2:8)

But we do "works" because of a genuine faith. Works is obedience to the Most Highs commandments. Those commandments Jesus told us to keep if we love him :)
